Career Exploration Program
This three-year secondary school program allows students to earn a Nova Scotia High School Diploma while also acquiring occupational skills in small class settings, and on-the-job training. The 4-week mandatory work placement component, completed in grades 11 and 12, provides three co-op credits towards graduation. The CEP curriculum is ideal for students who benefit from hands-on learning and who may wish to take a trade in college, or apprentice after graduating.
Mr. Langille, CEP program coordinator, will be visiting from CEC on Thursday, Feb. 22nd at 9:15AM.  Interested students can find out more about the program and ask any questions they may have.  More information about CEP can be found on Page 16 of the course selection guide or at the following link:

Options and Opportunities Program
Program Coordinator, Mr. Crowe, will be visiting from CEC on Feb 13th at 8:45AM to share information and answer questions about the O2 Program.  Applications are due March 8th.
Options and Opportunities (O2) is an exciting high school program which offers students more hands-on learning experiences with a career focus. It is designed to prepare students for successful transitions from high school to work, a career path, and/or a post-secondary program.

Pre - International Baccalaureate Program 


IB Program Coordinator, Ms. Pynn-Crowe will visit CCJHS Wednesday, Feb. 7th at 9:30AM to discuss IB programming and answer any questions students may have.

Students intending to enroll in the IB diploma or advanced courses in grade 11 are strongly recommended to take the CEC Diploma Preparation (Pre-IB) Program in grade 10.


The IB Diploma Program is a challenging two-year pre-university curriculum, primarily aimed at students aged 16 to 19 and is completed in grades 11 and 12. It leads to a qualification (the IB diploma) that is widely recognized by the world’s leading universities. The curriculum contains six subject groups together with the DP core. The program is suited to any academically ambitious high school student who seeks to attend university or college. Students in the program must have above average reading skills and overall academic ability, as well as a good work ethic.
